Six years goes by fast! Local fitness and nutrition business AlaskaFit is celebrating its sixth anniversary by giving back to the community.

For its birthday party, AlaskaFit has partnered with an array of local businesses that will be sampling their services including Alaska Dinner Factory, Alliance Chiropractic and Wellness Center and Amber Brophy of COR Cosmetics. Kaladi Brothers Coffee and Yogurt Lounge will provide free, tasty treats.

The public is invited to join AlaskaFit for its birthday event this Saturday, December 9 from 10 am to 12 noon. It kicks off with a free boot-camp-style workout at 10 am. The entire event is free and open to the public.

While the event is free, AlaskaFit is encouraging anyone who attends to donate to LEWK. All proceeds will go directly to the non-profit. In the past, AlaskaFit has partnered with Let Every Woman Know – Alaska (LEWK), a non-profit that supports women with gynecological cancer. AlaskaFit put on LEWK’s Extra Toughs program, which is designed to help women who have survived gynecological or breast cancer treatment and now are addressing their weight and lifestyle issues.

“I can’t believe how quickly six years has flown by,” said Ginny Grabowski, owner of AlaskaFit. “We are grateful to everyone who has helped us to be a success along the way and we thought what better way to celebrate our birthday than to help raise funds for LEWK while thanking our members?”

All ages, body types, and fitness levels are welcome to the “Birthday” workout and the birthday party that follows. AlaskaFit is located at 6251 Tuttle Place, Suite 102, near the corner of Lake Otis and Dowling.
