PALMER – The Alaska State Fair has completed a review of the actions taken last Thursday, August 26, when Sidney Hill was arrested after he caused a disturbance on the fairgrounds while carrying a large political sign. An edited video of Hill’s protest and subsequent arrest was posted on YouTube. Hill has since been charged with three misdemeanor crimes.

Special performances include Michael Kiss, with a moving musical tribute to an American legend — Michael Jackson and The Montalvo Troupe, showcasing synchronized acrobatic skill on a 30-foot human-powered “Wheel of Death” and demonstrating their strength, courage and perfect timing on “The Flying Trapeze.” A total of 32 shows are scheduled across nine Alaskan cities in October including Fairbanks, Wasilla, Soldotna, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Anchorage, Kodiak and Nome.
Kenai River Sportfishing Association (KRSA) recognized three of its stand-out volunteers this week. Jim Wentworth and Dave and Betty Lowery were named the nonprofit organization’s “Volunteers of the Year” at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic at Soldotna Elks Lodge.
